Hello everyone!
I decided to read a book to my grandkids for my podcast. I'm really excited that we learned how to do this. I will use this a lot with them and even as a teacher. Have fun!
Chicken Chuck
I created my podcast using Audacity, as I am sure most of you did. I thought that it was so easy. However, I found it difficult to figure out which LAME MP3 link to download. I ended up just doing it on my desktop because I wasn't real comfortable using the beta version that was created for Windows 7. Please let me know how it worked for you guys. In all, I still found the step by step instructions to be very thorough. I then moved on to my next challenge, uploading it to my blog. After some research, I decided to use Podbean.com to host my podcast. I will paste a screen shot below to show you how I uploaded my podcast. I certainly recommend this free software. Literally, you are simply taking your podcast in audacity that was saved as an mp3 and uploading into Podbean. I will definitely continue using this software. I am so excited that I learned how to do all of this and I look forward to using it in my classroom. http://www.podbean.com/podbean-quick-start#Publishing
Melissa's Blog for School
About Me
- Melissa
- Hi fellow bloggers. I'm learning how to do this whole blog thing. I'm a bit older which means that my kids want to help me put this together. I'm too afraid of what they will post so here I go. A little about me; I have graduated with a bachelors degree in business from Ball State University and I am now attending IUPUI to earn a certificate in elementary education. I chose this drastic change in careers because I wanted to come home each night and feel like I have made a difference. I've quit my job as Regional Director of Sales and I am now grinning from ear to ear as I walk through campus with my backpack. : ) It is awesome to know what you will be when you grow up. I wish all of you younger students the best in early discovery. Look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Me and my Honey

A little fun trivia question. Who is your favorite professor? :)

RSS Feed
I have not really even thought about what the RSS Feed symbol was for on the websites that I visit. This is really cool. It's great that I now know how to have the sites come to me rather than me having to go to the sites to check for updates. This is really efficient. It's amazing how much technology is out there to help you stay educated. I chose to use the tool (gadget) through blogger. It was so simple! Once I went to the website and subscribed to the RSS feed, I added the gadget with the url from the website.
I think that my favorite website was the link to Indianapolis Star's Hamilton County news. This site has never been more relevant to me as it was today when I read the article releasing more details in relation to the child committing suicide at HSE. It has impacted my family because my son will be going to that school next year. There have been many instances were bullying has taken place at my son's school and I am left wondering why isn't anyone seeing these events and stopping it. I don't understand why schools do not take a more severe stance on bullying. I think that it should start from the top down. Often times it is the most popular children that are responsible for this behavior. Does this have to be so difficult? Start with the football players and the cheerleaders. Why isn't their character being tide to their level of impact that they have as a role model. If the students that everyone looks up to get kicked off the team for bullying, wouldn't they stop and wouldn't that influence others to stop. Why do we allow children to have this influence on others without any accountability? I don't know about you but I will never go to a Pacers game. That is not the role model that I want for my son and I will not accept their behavior. Accountability is the only way this will end. Isn't it time for change?

Emerging Technology 2-Skype
How many times have you heard "keep in touch"? Now you can and it's free!
Personally and professionally, my husband and I often times use Skype. I chose this as my second emerging technology because I want to promote how great it is for those who have a need. Skype is simply a home phone line only through the internet. Skype is an incredibly cheap way of communicating long distance, including overseas. Skype to Skype calls are free, while you only pay .023 cents per minute on other calls or only $6 per month. They make it so easy to pay because all you have to do is put money in your account, like a debit card, and Skype updates you continually on your usage you’re your balance. Because of this assignment, I read something I did not know about. As an fyi you cannot make emergency phone calls by using Skype.
Here's a link to try it out for free. It is super easy to download. Have fun!

1st Emergent Technology Tool: PhotoShow
I have chosen to use Roxio PhotoShow. I haven't ever used any online photo sharing site before, but this particular site is amazing. I will continue to let you know all about how to use it and what it does as I continue to learn. This is an easy to use program that showcases all of your family photos into one “slideshow.” I truly had my photoshow finished and posted within 30 minutes. The greatest features include; uploading photos quickly, adding your own soundtrack, sharing with friends and adding animations and effects that make people really want to view your photos. It is also such a useful site to organize your photos for you and others to view.

I just firgued out something that is really cool with Roxio PhotoShow. It gives you the ability to import your photos from other accounts that you may currently use, such as Facebook and Shutterfly. Also, the free membersip allows you to create everything that I have done. I will probably pay for the premium membership but I didnt think that it would be fair to the other students who might want to try this out now. One more thing, it also let's you batch upload, which meant that I was able to upload all of my photos at once. Using this was alot of fun. I enjoyed all of the different options, such as backgrounds. It really let's your creativity shine. Give it a try and have fun!
